Spring 2019 Goddard Student Faculty Art Show
After doing a ton of experiments with sewing textile blocks last semester, I felt bad that I didn’t produce one finished piece. I had intended for all my “quilt squares of experimentation” to develop into a quilt. But as I looked at them, I felt like they really weren’t cohesive enough to warrant the amount of work that it would take to finish a quilt. I still have a quilt in my mind, but it’s not this one.
Since I was working the Art Show Committee, I felt like I should really put some work into the show. I dyed a long panel of raw muslin in indigo dye and arranged all of the sewing blacks from my G2 semester on the panel. The piece isn’t “done,” but simply and example of work that I am in the process of making. I like how it turned out.
